Product overview

In order to solve the voice switching between LTE and Wi-Fi, 3GPP comes up with 2 different network architecture: ePDG and SCC AS. IPLOOK can offer you the ePDG network architecture based on the ePDG and AAA network elements. ePDG architecture is the untrusted access. Users can connect to any Wi-Fi network to make a Wi-Fi call. ePDG is the necessary network element to connect VoWiFi under untrusted access.

Authentication

After UE connects ePDG by untrusted WiFi, it completes authentication through AAA server and HSS. The authentication mode is one based on SIM card(EAP-AKA/EAP/SIM).  

Security

IPSec pass is built between UE and ePDG, with which user data can be transmitted safely.

Voice call continuity

UE can switch successfully between Wi-Fi and LTE eNodeB to ensure voice continuity.

The quality of voice and video call

VoWiFi and VoLTE share the same IMS system, so users can experience HD voice and video call with IPLOOK VoWiFi.

Easier Deployment process

With Swm and S2b interface, IPLOOK can deploy ePDG and AAA network element on the extant  IMS core. After the two network elements, ePDG and AAA, are deployed, VoWiFi can be achieved.
