5G Stand-alone promises to revolutionize connectivity and unlock innovative use cases, but its adoption has been slow globally, with only 49 countries having 5G SA infrastructure, and just 7 of them in developing markets.
High capital expenditure, lack of skilled workforce, and limited availability of 5G SA ready devices are hindering the widespread deployment of 5G SA. However, developing markets with large subscriber bases and less legacy infrastructure are seen as potential candidates for direct migration to 5G.
While 5G SA holds transformative potential for developing nations, affordability and the high cost of deployment and frequency acquisition pose significance challenges, making it currently a solution more suited for wealthier nations.
Teral Research predicts the global 5G SA Core/5G Data Management/5G Policy market to reach US$4 billion by the end of the year, with an annual growth rate of 18%.
