The global 5G network construction has entered an accelerated period: the latest statistics from GSA showed that 249 operators in 97 countries and regions have officially launched or trial run at least one 5G commercial service (including 5G mobile service and 5G FWA service) that complies with the 3GPP standard. By the end of the first quarter of 2023, 524 operators in 156 countries around the world have invested in 5G, including network trials, spectrum accessing, network planning, network deployment and commercial rollout.

According to GSA data, by the end of March 2023, 116 operators in 53 countries and regions around the world have invested in 5G SA networks, of which at least 35 operators in 24 countries have launched public 5G SA networks. In addition, 24 operators are conducting 5G SA public network deployment or trials, and 31 operators are planning to deploy the 5G technology, indicating that the global deployment of 5G SA is accelerating. GSA pointed out that in addition to public network deployment, some enterprises and organizations are conducting private 5G SA network trials and deployments.

In terms of 5G terminals, GSA data shows that the number of terminals to support 5G SA is steadily increasing. As of March 2023, the number of commercial terminals supporting 5G SA accounts for 83.6% of all 5G terminals released by terminal manufacturers. The main types of 5G terminals include mobile phones, FWA CPEs, modules, industrial routers/gateways, and hotspot devices.
