Recently, GSMA led industry partners to form a 5.5G community at the MWC 2023. Operators in the Middle East are particularly enthusiastic about 5.5G innovation, they are intending to jointly develop 5.5G technology.
5.5G brings powerful capabilities, covering multiple network layers such as wireless networks, optical networks, and IP networks. It can achieve 10Gbps wireless network, full-scenario IoT, integrated communication and perception, L4-level autonomous driving network, and lots of other capabilities, enabling thousands of industries to release more digital productivity.
The revenue of some leading operators in the middle east keeps increasing continuously on account of the 5G development, which motivates more operators to explore new opportunities in the telecom industry by enhancing the capabilities of innovations and network connectivity. The continuous launch of multiple 5.5G MOU projects allows us to know the huge potential of 5.5G and the brilliant development direction of mobile communications.
What are the opportunities of 5.5G in the Middle East? How do the telcos explore these opportunities?
· As the bandwidth cornerstone of the new information infrastructure, F5.5G has been completed the first 50 GPON test and the first FTTR commercial launch by Saudi stc.
· Kuwait stc successfully validated 5.5G three-carrier aggregation (3CC CA) and 5.5G passive IoT technology, achieving ultra-wide broadband speeds of 3.6Gbps on commercial devices and bringing enhanced 5.5G coverage.
5.5G is the evolution and upgrade of 5G, which drives operators to embrace the innovation of the technologies including 5.5G, F5,5G, etc. The verification of key technologies and various application scenarios as well as the clear 5.5G spectrum strategy shows that the 5.5G technology has great potential to develop. New opportunities for 5.5G have emerged, all telcos should grasp the pace of innovation and work together to accelerate the commercialization of 5.5G networks.
